Do you want meaningful work that makes a difference in people's lives? Welcome to the municipality that is far from average!

Botkyrka Municipality is the sixth largest municipality in Stockholm County and consists of the districts Alby, Fittja, Hallunda, Norsborg, Tullinge, Tumba, Vårsta, and Grödinge. Botkyrka Municipality has approximately 95,000 inhabitants and over 6,400 employees.

The Culture and Leisure Administration makes Botkyrka healthier, stronger, and more creative! We ensure that there is a rich cultural and sports life with many different leisure activities to choose from in the municipality. We contribute to vibrant and safe living environments and enable Botkyrka residents to develop their interests. With meaningful leisure time, people feel better, which strengthens public health. With over 200 employees, we are responsible for libraries, swimming pools, cultural schools, art halls, open leisure activities, sports facilities, and public health parks.

We are looking for a project assistant for a two-year project employment within the ESF project After School.

The Position and Responsibilities

In order to combat child poverty, Botkyrka Municipality has been granted support from the European Social Fund (ESF) to carry out the project “After School”. Through the project, children and young people aged 10–15 are offered free activities immediately after school ends at the schools where the project is implemented. The project is run by the Culture and Leisure Administration and will be carried out in Hallunda/Norsborg starting in March 2026. The project runs until February 2028. We are now looking for a skilled and self-driven project assistant who will support the project and the project manager from implementation to execution and completion. As a project assistant, your main tasks will consist of coordinating collaboration with various municipal operations, schools, associations, and other relevant actors to offer children and young people in Hallunda/Norsborg free After School activities.

The project manager for the ESF project After School Botkyrka will be your closest collaborator and colleague. The work requires close cooperation with, above all, the association consultants, sports developers, and cultural coordinators of the Culture and Leisure Administration. The work also requires good contact and collaboration with designated contact persons at the schools where the project is implemented.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Planning After School activities together with the project manager
  • Organizing meetings with local associations
  • Maintaining ongoing participant statistics and other relevant follow-up
  • Managing payments to associations and activity leaders
  • Booking venues, classrooms, and sports facilities
  • Placing orders and purchasing services and materials/equipment from the municipality's contracted suppliers

You are expected to contribute to the implementation and development of the project together with other project staff to ensure the project's success and the possibility of eventually being incorporated into regular operations.

We Offer You

We offer a developing role with variety, where you gain both practical and strategic experience in project management, coordination, and youth activities. As a project assistant in Botkyrka Municipality, you will be a key person in the After School project, where you directly contribute to meaningful activities for children and young people in Hallunda/Norsborg. You will have the opportunity to be involved from idea to execution, and your efforts will truly impact the project's success.

With us, you will be part of a workplace with great expertise and engaged colleagues, where collaboration, creativity, and initiative are valued. The position gives you the freedom and responsibility to plan and develop your own work while providing the opportunity to build networks with schools, associations, and other actors.

Who You Are

You have a university degree in social sciences, culture, or pedagogy, or equivalent experience that the employer deems comparable.

Other Requirements:

  • Experience in administrative work.
  • Good knowledge of the laws and regulations governing municipal operations, with particular regard to the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Meritorious:

  • Experience working in externally funded projects.
  • Experience working with children and young people in socio-economically disadvantaged areas.

To succeed in the role of project assistant, you are self-driven and proactive, with the ability to drive the project's activities forward. You are communicative and clear, creating good relationships with colleagues, schools, and associations. With a collaborative and engaged working style, you enjoy building long-term relationships both within the team and with external actors. Furthermore, you are structured and results-oriented, with a good ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks with a focus on the project's goals. You are also flexible and solution-oriented, allowing you to adapt to changes and contribute to the project's development and success.

Welcome with your application!
